Hinckley First United Methodist Church is a vital faith community filled with people on a journey together. Whether you’re a child or adult, new to the faith or not, we want you to feel loved and like part of the family.
Current Sermon Series
We often picture Jesus as gentle, comforting, and predictable. We love the Jesus who welcomes children, heals the sick, and speaks in soothing words of peace. But if you actually sit down and read the Gospels, it doesn’t take long before you run headfirst into moments that make you stop, double-check the page, and ask: Did he really just say that? Jesus routinely said things that shocked his listeners, challenged their assumptions, and upended their tidy categories of faith. In this four-week series, we’re leaning into that tension rather than explaining it away. Whether you’ve read these scriptures for decades or are opening the Gospels for the first time, join us as we wrestle with the hard sayings of Jesus and discover the life-giving truth hidden inside the shock.
