Ten Words

Most of us learned the Ten Commandments as a list of things we're not supposed to do. Don't do this. Don't do that. But what if we've been reading them wrong? The ancient Hebrews didn't call them the Ten Commandments — they called them the Ten Words. And these words weren't given to a people already in trouble. They were given to a people God had just set free. They weren't the price of God's love. They were a portrait of what a liberated life could look like. This summer we're sRepending ten weeks asking: What kind of life are these words pointing us toward? What is the life-giving invitation hidden inside each one? Whether you've had these words memorized since childhood or haven't thought about them in years, this series invites you to hear the Ten Commandments again — as if for the first time.
