The Upside-Down Kingdom: The Countercultural Message of the Beatitudes

What does a kingdom look like when God is in charge? It's not a hypothetical question. Jesus answered it directly from a hillside in Galilee. Looking out at a crowd of people the world had already passed over, he described a kingdom that runs on entirely different logic than any kingdom this world has ever produced. The kingdoms we know have always told the same story: the powerful, the wealthy, the well-connected are the ones who matter. But Jesus looked at the poor, the grieving, the meek, the persecuted and he said: Yours is the kingdom. Every kingdom you've ever lived under has told you a story about who's in and who's out, what's worth wanting, how power works, and what winning looks like. In this series, we're going to let Jesus tell a different story. The Upside Down Kingdom isn't a minor adjustment to the kingdoms of this world — it's a complete reversal of them. And the invitation isn't just to admire that reversal. It's to actually live inside it.
